Anne Braden: Southern Patriot Film Screening & Discussion with director Mimi Pickering in Corbin, KY

From Facebook:

Like every community in America, Corbin has a difficult relationship with race. Through this film screening, we hope to bring folks together to learn about Kentucky's anti-racist organizing history and talk about what we can do individually and collectively put a stop to racism in our communities.

We hope you'll join us at Second & Main for our first film screening of what we'd like to make into a series, where director and guest speaker Mimi Pickering will be visiting to talk about a film she directed about Anne Braden, a Kentuckian woman who was hailed by Dr. Martin Luther King after being charged with sedition in 1952 for organizing to desegregate a Louisville neighborhood. In the film, Anne Braden reflects on 60 years of organizing for racial justice as a white southern woman.

There will be food, and admission is free. Accessibility details will be posted soon.

Thank you to Kingsley & Blachowski for co-sponsoring this event and helping to make it all possible!
